The SBUAcAA’s President Joselito Diga with Board of Trustees and SBU’s Department of Accountancy and Taxation headed by Vice-Dean Jacqui R. Moreno held its first official collaborative meeting on 13 June 2023. This meeting was hosted by the Department at SBU’s Dom Felipe Cafe Mezzanine . After the brief updates of recent trends in the accounting curriculum, the team discussed areas where the association can help the Department. These include: (1) recruiting faculty with CIA, CMA and CISA designations, to teach on a part-time basis at SBU; (2) assisting in faculty development thru continuing professional development opportunities and immersion; (3) granting possible scholarships to deserving students; (4) providing assistance to graduates undergoing CPA review especially during actual board operations; and (5) assisting students in getting internships and fresh graduates in seeking employment. The SBUAcAA thanks Dr. Moreno for hosting said meeting. We are looking forward for future collaborations with the Department.
