HISTORY

The San Beda University Accountancy Alumni Association was formally established on January 20, 2022. On this day, Prof. Joffre Alajar convened a virtual meeting of selected Bedan certified public accountants to propose the establishment of an alumni association exclusively for those who graduated with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Commerce major in Accounting or Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS). The meeting attended by about 20 Bedans was held via zoom amid the corona virus disease 2019 pandemic.

Prior to 2022, there were already informal talks held in Club Filipino Greenhills, San Juan City to discuss plans to have an alumni group composed of Bedan accounting professionals. However, this did not progress since there were no follow-up meetings on the matter.

Years later, responding to the clamor of a number of Bedans to have a formal exclusive accountancy alumni organization, Prof. Alajar called on an organizational meeting meeting with the following agenda: a) Proposed establishment of the SBUAcAA; b) Proposed Vision-Mission Statement; c) Appointment of Incorporators and Board of Trustees; d) Election of Officers for AY 2022-2023; e) Formation of Working Committees and f) Tentative Program of Activities.

The Incorporators approved the proposed Vision-Mission statement. Dr. Joselito G. Diga, a full blooded Bedan (GS,HS,CAS) and 3rd placer in the 1988 CPA Board Exams, and Senior Vice President for Finance, United Laboratories (UNILAB) was elected as the first President of the SBUAcAA. Other elected officers included Johnny F. Ang (Vice President), Atty. Jose Fernando G. Llave (Corporate Secretary), Michael D. Roxas (Treasurer), Ponciano S. Carreon, Jr. (Auditor).

The first SBUAcAA Board of Trustees was composed of; Thadeus B. Abilla, Atty. Walter Abela, Leitz Camyll Ang, Raymond A. Abrea, James J. Araullo, Romualdo L. Bea, John Mark M. Borja, Manuel P. Buensuceso, Jr., Jayson T. Chio, Ryan. R. Gabinete, Marvin R. Galang, Abdul Rahim G. Gandamra, Mario O. Garcia, Ma. Teodoro Josephat C. Martinez, Jr., John Sio, Nick Jule B. Torres, Atty. Gerry E. Valdez, Benjamin N. Villacorte, and Czarmel Lopez.

On May 4, 2022, the Articles of Incorporation and By laws of the San Beda University Accountancy Alumni Association, Inc. were approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

VISION & MISSION

The San Beda University Accountancy Alumni Association (SBUAcAA) is an exclusive group of Bedan Accounting Graduates providing professional accountancy leadership service to society, for San Beda University, the Church, the Filipino nation and the global community.

OUR VISION
The San Beda University Accountancy Alumni Association envisions itself as an integral part of a growing community of Bedans that together with the San Beda University Alumni Association (SBUAA) and its Alma Mater – San Beda University, it is able to contribute to the transformation of society, and help build better communities of nation, Church and the global community.

OUR MISSION
With hope for the realization of that vision, the San Beda University Accountancy Alumni Association aims to –

• serve as a most effective linkage between San Beda University (SBU) and all SBU accounting graduates;
• be an effective and efficient alumni organization, that will help in the advancement of the accountancy education mission of San Beda University; and
• assist its members to become faithful embodiments of the Benedictine ideals of peace, prayer, work and service, for them to become exemplars for generations of Bedans to emulate
